New feature gives parents trip details, speeding alerts, post-trip driving event summaries, and insights to support safer teen driving habits.
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, August 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — As teens begin driving and traveling more independently, parents may know where they are but have limited visibility into how each trip unfolds. This information gap matters especially for new drivers: according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drivers ages 16–19 have a fatal crash rate almost three times as high as drivers ages 20 and older per mile driven, and crash risk is particularly high during the first months of licensure.
To help families bridge the gap between knowing a teen’s location and understanding what happens during a trip, Sand Studio today announced the launch of Teen Driving Safety, a new AirDroid Parental Control feature. By providing trip-level information and highlighting potentially risky driving events, the feature gives parents more meaningful context for discussing road safety and supporting teens as they gain experience and independence.
“You know where they are. But do you know how they drive?” said Bailey Morgan, Head of Family Digital Safety Content at AirDroid. “Location can show parents where a teen is. AirDroid Teen Driving Safety adds context about the trip itself—helping families recognize potentially risky driving events, discuss them calmly, and work together to build safer driving habits over time.”
Driving Safety is organized around three capabilities:
• Stay Connected to Every Drive. Parents can review trip routes, start and end points, speed, distance, and duration. Daily and weekly summaries also help families see patterns over time.
• Spot Risky Driving Early. Parents receive a real-time alert when speeding is detected. Hard-braking and rapid-acceleration events are recorded and summarized after a trip ends, helping families review the moments that may need attention. AirDroid Parental Control’s existing SOS capability also lets a teen quickly request help and notify parents when assistance may be needed.
• Support Safer Driving Habits. Daily and weekly summaries give families specific information they can discuss together, helping them recognize progress and focus conversations on the trips and behaviors that matter most.
AirDroid emphasizes that Driving Safety is designed to support family conversations, not replace context or judgment. Trip and motion-related signals come from the teen’s device, and the company encourages families to discuss monitoring openly and confirm whether the teen was driving, riding, or traveling as a passenger before drawing conclusions from an individual event.
“A child getting a license does not end a parent’s concern; it changes the kind of information families need,” Morgan added. “Driving Safety is designed for that next stage of independence, beginning with moments such as a teen’s first solo drive.”
Availability
Driving Safety is available now for families using AirDroid Kids on supported Android and iOS phones. Parents can access the feature through AirDroid Parental Control on Android and iOS or through the web dashboard.
